CTRL + VIE

/Shaping a Mindful Play System That Highlights Emotional Awareness, Family Balance, and Digital Well-being

This project addresses screen overexposure among pre-teens and teens, who spend an average of 4 to 6 hours a day online. This overexposure often fosters digital socializing at the expense of real-world connections, leading to concerning effects such as fragile social skills, anxiety, sleep deprivation, and family tensions.

CTRL+VIE tackles this issue with an educational card game designed to spark open dialogue. Players are invited to fill an empty circle with emotions by navigating everyday scenarios and open-ended questions. As smartphones are acquired at increasingly younger ages and parents often feel overwhelmed by technology, screen habits have become dangerously normalized. CTRL+VIE raises family awareness through play, encouraging better digital habits. By turning gameplay into a tool for connection and disconnection, it provides families with the keys to anticipate dangers and foster healthy child development.
